Employees give Kuraray top scores in two employer rankings

Kuraray Europe came second in its sector in the award “Germany's most family-friendly companies 2020” and is positioned among the top three overall in the Process ranking of the best employers in the chemical industry.

Hattersheim, October 2020. Satisfied employees give speciality chemicals company Kuraray two reasons to be pleased: First, it has been ranked among the best employers in the chemical sector by the trade journal Process. Second, the company, which has three locations in Germany (Hattersheim and Höchst Industrial Park near Frankfurt and Troisdorf), has been singled out as one of Germany’s most family friendly companies 2020 by the lifestyle magazine Freundin. Here, Kuraray achieved second place in the chemical industry.

“We have achieved convincing scores in two employer rankings, with a good position as one of Germany's most family-friendly companies 2020 as well as being ranked as one of the best employers in the chemical industry by the trade journal Process,” says Dr. Matthias Gutweiler, Managing Director of Kuraray Europe GmbH. “Both of these rankings are based on reviews by our colleagues, which shows that we offer them a working environment where they feel at ease and are able to develop both personally and professionally.” Kuraray actively promotes work-life balance. Alongside conditions such as flexible worktime models, this speciality chemicals producer offers employees extensive training and career development opportunities, attractive remuneration and sustainable health management – in an innovative and international working environment. That is reflected in the ranking by Freundin in conjunction with Kununu.

Employee satisfaction leads to top ranking
Once a year, the lifestyle magazine Freundin and Europe's largest employer review platform, Kununu, select Germany's most family-friendly companies. Employees are asked to review their company anonymously in categories such as management style, working together, equality, work-life balance, career and continuing professional development, pay and social benefits. The ranking includes more than two million reviews of 200,000 companies in Germany and Austria. In the final ranking for Germany, 300 employers in 30 sectors were awarded the accolade “Germany's most family friendly companies 2020”. Kuraray was ranked among the leaders, coming second in the chemical industry.

Ranked in the top three overall out of 2,200 chemical industry employers
Process, a trade journal for the pharmaceutical, chemical and process engineering sectors, also uses employee reviews on Kununu as the basis for its ranking. To select the best employers out of around 2,200 companies in the chemical industry, it derives an overall ranking from whether employees’ recommend their employer, as well as reviews of working atmosphere, pay and continuing professional development opportunities. Here, Kuraray was ranked third with a score of 4.10 points. The recommendation rate plays a part in the final ranking. Here, Kuraray is positioned among the top seven employers in the chemical industry.

“The good reviews show that our employees value what we do to help them combine work and family life. We will be continuing our efforts in this area in the future,” says Karl-Heinz Michel, Head of Human Resources at Kuraray Europe. “We constantly strive to offer our colleagues modern tools and workplaces. That also paid off during the coronavirus lockdown in the spring. Thanks to digital technology, many of our employees were quickly able to switch to working from home - and we were able to hold our European Future Day as a fully remote staff event.”
