Commercialized by Kuraray, KURALON™ PVOH fiber was the first synthetic fiber made in Japan. High-quality KURALON™ fibers are based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) and have been continually improved and adapted to customers’ requirements over the years. Since the launch of KURALON™, Kuraray has continued to develop unique high-performance fibers and materials. These are used in many industrial applications, ranging from construction and agriculture to automotive, aviation and aerospace.
Kuraray is the market leader in PVOH fibers, KURALON™ fibers developed by Kuraray have been used in countless applications for more than 60 years. KURALON K-II™ is our second generation of PVOH fibers. It is available as a water-soluble type and – for high-strength applications – an insoluble type.
Nonwovens are ideal for a variety of packaging uses because they are exceptionally light and robust. KURALON™ K-II is used, for example, in water-soluble nonwoven fabrics. Nonwoven packaging made of KURALON K-II™ is environmentally friendly because it dissolves completely in water and is biodegradable. KURALON K-II™ offers unique features for various applications, so it can help solve the growing environmental problems.

Vectran™ LCP fiber is a high-strength, high-performance multifilament yarnspun from liquid crystal polymers (LCP). It is the world's first commercially available melt-spun LCP fiber. Reducing energy consumption without any loss of performance is important, for example, in the assembly of wind turbines and when handling tanker mooring ropes. Vectran™ liquid crystal polymer fibers have high strength yet are lightweight: they are 5 times stronger than steel but much lighter. Vectran™ also has high dimensional stability, making it ideal for use in extreme conditions, for example, at very high or low temperatures.

Due to its safety performance, KURAKISSS™ polyetherimide (PEI) fiber is the ideal fiber for applications in aircraft. This fiber is high temperature resistant, flame-retardant and has low smoke density in the event of fire so it is especially suitable for use in aircraft cabins.
Hook and loop fasteners are versatile, easy to use and almost indestructible. Therefore, they have been used for decades in vehicles, apparel, sports equipment and even the aviation and aerospace sectors.
Kuraray offers a variety of hook and loop fasteners with different shapes. MAGICTAPE™ is a standard hook and loop fastener, while FREEMAGIC™ hook and loop fastener has hooks and loops that are piled alternately on the same surface. Both types are made of 100% polyester without solvent, resulting in flame-retardant, heat-resistant and a certification of Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
As FREEMAGIC™ uses alternating hooks and loops in the same tape a single tape can be fastened to itself at any point. That means less material is required and avoids misplacement during assembly. Made without solvent, FREEMAGIC™ hook and loop fasteners are therefore effective, safe and environmentally friendly.
