Polyvinyl alcohols (PVOH) with very good adhesion are required for coating metal and glass and for demanding types of specialty paper. R grades of KURARAY POVAL™ polyvinyl alcohol have unique bonding capacity for inorganic materials. Use these PVOH polymers to enhance the performance of your coatings and specialty papers.
KURARAY POVAL™ R grades have very good adhesion to inorganic materials. That makes them ideal for coatings and as bonding agents for glass, aluminum and steel. Thanks to their built-in silanol groups, these PVOH polymers have very good crosslinking properties, resulting in excellent water resistance They are therefore ideal for water-resistant coating of specialty papers.
Together with colloidal silica types, KURARAY POVAL™ R grades allow production of clear, transparent and high-gloss coatings. The excellent crosslinking properties of these polyvinyl alcohols mean that the amount of bonding agent can be reduced significantly – and that improves efficiency and reduces costs.
